Sports Massage

Sports Massage Adelaide

Gentle, flowing strokes designed to melt tension and calm the nervous system. The perfect reset when you need to stop, breathe and let go.

Pure Sports & Recovery

Switch Off. Let Go. Feel Better.

A sports massage is exactly what it sounds like: time dedicated entirely to unwinding. Your therapist uses long, flowing strokes with gentle to medium pressure, working across your whole body to release surface tension and calm your mind.
This is not about fixing a specific injury. It's about giving your nervous system permission to slow down. When stress hormones drop and circulation improves, your body does what it knows how to do: heal, restore, rebalance.
At Swiss Wellness, we enhance every sports massage with natural and organic oils that nourish your skin and add an aromatherapy element to the experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is sports massage suitable for non-athletes?
Absolutely. While the technique was developed for athletes, sports massage works for anyone with muscle tension from training, desk work, running or general fitness. It is firm, focused, and tailored to your activity level.
When should I book a sports massage relative to an event?
Pre-event sports massage is best 24 to 72 hours before. Post-event recovery is most beneficial within 24 to 48 hours. For ongoing training maintenance, weekly or fortnightly is typical. Tell us your event date and we will recommend timing.
How is sports massage different from regular deep tissue?
Sports massage targets muscle groups used in specific activities such as running, cycling, swimming or lifting. It includes stretching, range-of-motion work, and injury prevention techniques. Deep tissue is more general, focused on the deepest muscle layers wherever you carry tension.
Will my health fund cover sports massage at Swiss Wellness?
Some Australian health funds rebate sports massage when performed by a HLT-qualified remedial therapist. Bring your card and we will check eligibility before your appointment.
How sore will I be after a sports massage?
Mild soreness for 24 to 36 hours is normal, similar to a tough training session. Hydrate well and avoid intense exercise that day. Soreness fades fast and most clients feel noticeably looser by day two.
Can I get a sports massage if I have a current injury?
For acute injuries less than 72 hours old, see a physio or sports doctor first. For chronic or rehabilitating injuries, sports massage is often part of the recovery plan. Our therapists work alongside your physio or coach.
What Adelaide athletes book sports massage at Swiss Wellness?
We see regulars training for the Adelaide Marathon, Bay to Birdwood, City to Bay, weekend cyclists and triathletes. Mid-week recovery sessions are the most-booked slot for endurance athletes.
