Hot Stone Massage

Deep Heat Therapy in Adelaide

Heated basalt stones placed on key tension points while your therapist works the surrounding muscles. The warmth reaches deeper than hands alone.

Why Hot Stone?

Heat That Reaches Where Hands Can't

Hot stone massage uses smooth, heated basalt stones that retain warmth and transfer it deep into tight muscles. Your therapist places them along your spine, on your shoulders and at key tension points, then works the surrounding tissue with flowing strokes.
The heat opens blood vessels, improves circulation and allows your therapist to work more effectively without the pressure of a deep tissue massage. You get the deep relief without the intensity.
At Swiss Wellness, we use natural and organic massage oils alongside our hot stone technique, giving your skin nourishment while your muscles release.

Benefits of Hot Stone Massage

🌱

Deep Muscle Relief

Heat penetrates tight muscles more effectively than pressure alone, releasing chronic tension in the back, neck and shoulders.

💧

Improved Circulation

Warmth dilates blood vessels, boosting oxygen flow to tired muscles and helping flush metabolic waste.

🧢

Stress and Anxiety Relief

The combination of heat and skilled touch calms the nervous system, reducing cortisol and promoting deep relaxation.

What to Expect During Your Session

1

Consultation

Your therapist begins with a brief conversation about any tension, pain or stress you are carrying. This helps them choose the right stone placement and pressure for your body.

2

Warming Up

Smooth basalt stones are heated to a therapeutic temperature between 50 and 55 degrees. Your therapist tests each stone before placing it on your skin to ensure comfort.

3

Placement and Massage

Stones are placed along your spine, on your shoulders, palms and between your toes. While the heat works into those areas, your therapist uses additional warm stones to massage surrounding muscles with flowing, Swedish-style strokes.

4

Cool Down

Towards the end of your session, stones are gradually removed. Your therapist finishes with gentle hand massage to integrate the work. You will feel deeply relaxed and grounded.

Can I get a hot stone massage if I have sensitive skin?
Yes. Our therapists always test the stone temperature on their own skin first, and we use natural organic massage oils that are gentle on sensitive skin. Let your therapist know about any sensitivities during your consultation.
How often should I book a hot stone massage?
For general stress relief and wellbeing, once a month is ideal. If you are working through chronic tension or recovering from injury, your therapist may recommend fortnightly sessions initially.
