You arrive at our Hyde Park day spa and are welcomed with a warm herbal tea in our relaxation lounge. This transition time helps you begin to unwind before your treatment starts.

Your therapist asks about any areas of tension, pressure preferences and whether you would like to focus on particular areas or enjoy a full-body treatment.

Your Massage

Using long, flowing Swedish-style strokes and natural aromatherapy oils from Adelaide Hills Organics, your therapist works to release surface tension and calm your nervous system. The pressure is medium to light and deeply soothing.

Afterwards

Take your time getting up. Many of our guests enjoy a few quiet minutes in our relaxation space after their session. There is no rush. You will leave feeling lighter, calmer and more present.

Is relaxation massage just a "light" massage?
Not at all. Relaxation massage uses specific techniques to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, reducing cortisol levels and promoting genuine physiological calm. It is therapeutic in a different way to remedial massage.
Can I combine relaxation massage with a facial?

What should I wear to a relaxation massage?
You will be given a private space to undress to your comfort level. Most guests undress fully and are covered with a sheet throughout. Wear whatever you like to the spa.
How long should my first relaxation massage be?
For a first visit, we recommend 60 minutes. This gives your therapist enough time to work your full body. If you are short on time, the 45-minute session covers back, neck, shoulders and legs.
Can I request lighter or firmer pressure?
Absolutely. Your therapist will check in with you at the start and throughout the session. Relaxation massage is generally lighter than remedial, but we adjust to your preference.
Is relaxation massage good for anxiety?
Yes. Research shows massage therapy reduces cortisol and increases serotonin and dopamine. Many of our regular guests book specifically for anxiety management and find it genuinely helps.
